Re: not able to access cde

Enable CDE

/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e

Ensure the initdefault level in /etc/inittab is 3

If the system is not currently at runlevel 3, execute
init 3
start CDE
/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc start

Run these commands & post errors in
"/var/dt/Xerrors" for clues.

Re: not able to access cde

try a read of the following, its pretty comprehensive in that it covers most things that could go wrong ;-)

That sounds good.

I know nothing, but if you have no
"/usr/dt/bin" directory, then I'd guess that
someone has deleted it. Around here, for
example:

dyi # ls -l /usr/dt
total 112
dr-xr-xr-x 35 bin bin 8192 Jan 23 2008 app-defaults
dr-xr-xr-x 7 bin bin 96 Jan 23 2008 appconfig
lrwxr-xr-x 1 bin bin 23 Jan 23 2008 backdrops -> /usr/dt/share/backdrops
dr-xr-xr-x 2 bin bin 8192 Jan 24 2008 bin
dr-xr-xr-x 37 bin bin 8192 Jan 23 2008 config
-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 1003 Jan 12 2007 copyright
dr-xr-xr-x 7 bin bin 8192 Jan 24 2008 dthelp
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 16 Jan 24 2008 examples -> ./share/examples
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 21 Jan 24 2008 include -> /usr/dt/share/include
dr-xr-xr-x 4 bin bin 96 Jan 24 2008 infolib
dr-xr-xr-x 8 bin bin 8192 Jan 23 2008 lib
lrwxr-xr-x 1 bin bin 11 Jan 23 2008 man -> ./share/man
lrwxr-xr-x 1 bin bin 22 Jan 23 2008 palettes -> /usr/dt/share/palettes
dr-xr-xr-x 7 bin bin 8192 Jan 24 2008 share

My similar system has more installed CDE
stuff than yours, but I'd expect the plain
CDE kit to include "/usr/dt/bin" and
"/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig":

dyi # swlist -l product | grep -i cde
CDE B.11.31 HP-UX CDE User Interface
CDEDevKit B.11.31.01 CDE Desktop Developer's ToolKit

dyi # ls -l /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin 5018 Jan 12 2007 /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig

You might try re-installing the CDE kit.
