not able to login

i have an HPUX server B.11.23 U ia64 . from one user i am not able to login the server. it shows error like
login as: ora10g
ora10g@10.44.150.200's password:
Access denied
ora10g@10.44.150.200's password:

but i am able to su from other user

If the account is locked you will still be able to su to it. Check if the account is locked.

Hi Sreerag,

Just a thought. Maybe an admin changed the .profile of ora10g to allow only su and no direct logins for this account.

You may use the following command to reactivate the user .

/usr/lbin/modprpw -k user

You have to execute this command as "root".
