noticed a difference in how sudo works on 11.31 vs 11.11


on 11.11, when I perform "sudo su" my initial user env. is preserved.

on 11.31, I loose all environment variables, and have to either perform a "sudo -E su" for my user env. or "sudo su -" to get root's env.


the version is different, 1.7 on 11.31...where 11.11 is at 1.6.8

I have also compared the sudoers files between the two systems...didn't find anything regarding environments.


is there a configuration option for sudo to preserve the initial env. by default?


any assistance is appreciated,

it's the newer version of sudo (not the OS) that is causing this (documented) issue.

Added the following to my sudoers: Defaults !env_reset

life is good again.
what a way to end the week :D
