Re: nrpe on hp-ux 10.20

I assume you are talking about Nagios Remote Plugin Executor? Are you compiling from source code or using the vendor supplied depot available at: http://www.nagiosexchange.org/NRPE.77.0.html?&tx_netnagext_pi1[p_view]=131

I assume you realize 10.20 is unsupported and I think 11.0 is also near unsupported. I think you'll find, more and more, that vendors won't be supporting products on your version of the OS. Consider upgrading.

Good luck!

Re: nrpe on hp-ux 10.20

I was not able to compile nrpe 2.8.1 on
hp-ux 10.20. "configure" gave error:

.
.
checking for socklen_t... no
checking for socklen_t equivalent... configure: error: Cannot find a type to use
in place of socklen_t

I did download nrpe-1[1].8-B.10.20.depot
from:

http://www.nagiosexchange.org/NRPE.77.0.html?&tx_netnagext_pi1[p_view]=131

And was able to get nrpe running.

I downloaded the plugins nagios-plugins-1.4.9
from:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=29880

but "configure" has same error as above as
it did for compiling nrpe source.

If someone has the plugins already for
hp-ux 10.20 that would be great. Can't
upgrade these boxes. They are connected to
manufacturing equipment running custom
code with no hope of upgrade any time soon.

I am looking at plugins now from:

http://www.nagiosexchange.org/Plugin_Packages.52.0.html?&tx_netnagext_pi1[p_view]=32

to see if I can do something with it.
Problem may be that I do not have gcc on
these HP-UX 10.20 boxes and HP's cc is lame.

Re: nrpe on hp-ux 10.20

It was constructive. I noticed that you hadn't updated points in a while on your last threads, so I gently pointed it out. The only people who would have noticed it *would have* been those that bothered to click on the link, which I believed would be very few. I didn't put one mean or nasty word anywhere in the post. I purposely made it look like help, so as not to embarras you for not posting points lately, and try to gently remind you to do so.

So, I was being nice. BTW, I did bother to look to see if mine was just an oversight, and it wasn't. So, I put a discreet message in one of those as well, meant to remind you about it, without making you embarrased.

So, if you misinterpreted the meaning, I apologize. The effort was to quietly remind you, and meant no offense.

Enjoy the script I wrote for you.

Jerry,

The more I reflect on this, the worse I feel. It isn't my purpose to make you or anyone else feel bad about participating in these forums, that's not they are all about.

Please excuse the whole thing.

Humblest apologies,

John
