Re: nslookup output mismatch
I'm even not sure where the problem should be, since you wrote different servers
$ nslookup herdapp2
and
$ nslookup hrdvault
What exactly is the problem? Please clarify.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: nslookup output mismatch
To solve the problem (and future problems with any HP-UX servers and workstations), create an /etc/nsswitch.conf that looks like this:
passwd: files
group: files
hosts: files [NOTFOUND=continue UNAVAIL=continue] dns
ipnodes: files [NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=return TRYAGAIN=return]
services: files
networks: files
protocols: files
rpc: files
publickey: files
netgroup: files
automount: files
aliases: files
Now nslookup should work as expected. You probably need to contact your DNS administrator to correct any errors.

Re: nslookup output mismatch
What do you get for:
nslookup 10.5.26.3?
nslookup 10.5.26.1?
