only 1 disk showing in ioscan o/p

Hello Expert,

I have installed hp-ux 11.31 on BL860C server. The installation completed successfully.

But in ioscan o/p I can see only 1 disk. Physically the server has 2 x  72GB disk and both the disk are detected having green LED. NO RAID configured also.

Anyhelp on this & how to resolve this issue?Attaching ioscan o/p for reference.

Many thanks for any help in advance.

Regards,

Syed

Re: only 1 disk showing in ioscan o/p

# ioscan -fnNC disk
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===================================================================
disk 1 64000/0xfa00/0x0 esdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP IR Volume

 The text "HP IR Volume" in the disk description indicates that this is a hardware RAID1 array.

Please run this command to see more information about the array:

# sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd1 -q lun=all -q lun_locate

You may need to install this depot to access the hardware RAID configuration from the HP-UX OS, if it is not already installed:

https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=RAID-01

You should read the documents available at:

http://www.hp.com/go/smart-array-raid-docs

In particular, please see "User guide" -> "HP Smart Array SAS Controllers for Integrity Servers Support Guide".

Re: only 1 disk showing in ioscan o/p

Hi Matti,

Thank you very much for your help. With your help I am able to see the RAID details. I also checked from the EFI shell and and can see the full details for the IR Volume.

Now I want to upgrade the firmware for the server and need help for that. The curent details are as:

***********************************************************
* ROM Version : 04.05
* ROM Date    : 05/19/2008
* BMC Version :  05.32

Please provide the links and steps to update the firmware .

Syed

Re: only 1 disk showing in ioscan o/p

Hi Matti,

Thanks for all your help. I am trying to install the depot to access the hardware RAID, but from the link provided it shows me many SAS drivers. How could I select from there teh actual driver needed.

Attaching ioscan -fn o/p for the reference.

Thanks for your support in advance.

Re: only 1 disk showing in ioscan o/p

# sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd1
Driver Name                                        : sasd
Bundle Version                                     : B.11.31.1203
Product Number                                     : AD217-60001

 ... Oops, sorry. From the Product Number I can see that your BL860c is neither the i2 nor the i4 model, so you won't need the RAID-01 driver bundle at all.

Your version of the BL860c has an earlier model SAS controller, whose RAID configuration can be fully accessed with the sasmgr command. Since you already have it installed, you won't need any additional driver bundles for that.

For more details, please refer to the man page of the sasmgr command, available on your system with the "man sasmgr" command, or here:
