Re: operating system type

If you don't know what your OS is, then how
did you choose a Tru64 forum?

Ofter useful:

uname -a
sizer -v
dupatch -track -type patch_level

Or, you might explain what you mean by
"operating system type".

Re: operating system type

uname -a will tell you the exact also in tru64 you can use

sizer -v

Not very "exact" in Tru64. For example:

urtx# uname -a
OSF1 urtx.antinode.info V5.1 2650 alpha

urtx# sizer -v
HP Tru64 UNIX V5.1B (Rev. 2650); Fri Mar 20 20:19:48 CDT 2009

See the "B"?

> dupatch -track -type patch_level

To get only the big stuff:

dupatch -track -type patch_level | \
grep 'Patch Kit'

For example:

urtx# dupatch -track -type patch_level | grep 'Patch Kit'
Patch Kit 5: T64V51BB26AS0005-20050502 OSF540
Patch Kit 6: T64V51BB27AS0006-20061208 OSF540
Patch Kit 7: T64V51BB28AS0007-20090312 OSF540

Re: operating system type

:) u spreading smilies everywhere.....

well apart from uname -a (good for HPUX, SUN and Linux) for Tru64 siver would be a good choice but with OSF and alpha thing you can get a hint :)

What does your login banner says most of the time it tell/hints you about the OS type.
