ownership issue.

Hi Friends,

I am facing issue in one hpux base OS (IVM 4.1)server installed 11.31 march 2010 media.

1.) when a create a file after loging using root its ownership becomes nobody and sys.

2.) I am getting Request time out while pinging guest os from windows machine.

please help in these 2 querries.

Are you trying to create this file on an NFS mounted file system? If so, this makes sense. 'root' is probably getting mapped to 'nobody' by NFS.

Do you have a firewall or iptables running on the HP-UX server? If so, it is probably blocking ICMP (ping) requests.
