Hi,

i have HP-UX 11.11. I need to install PERL on this server, but my /opt FS is almost full. So, can i install PERL in /var/opt.

if so, how can i do this.

Re: perl install

Probably create a symlink from /opt/XX to /var/opt/XX and install as normal.

Re: perl install

Hi:

I would extend the '/opt' filesystem. You have OnlineJFS don't you?

Re: perl install

I dont have onlineJFS and also there is no space left in vg00.. please tell me is there is anyway i can install perl in /var/opt.

linking is as you are saying, is it like....i can create a foler perl5 in /opt and link that folder in /var/opt...

so when i install the perl, will it goes in that pre-existing folder?

Thanks

Well, you create a symlink in /opt/, not a directory:
ln -s /var/opt/perl5 /opt

Yes, it should. swinstall doesn't remove the directory before installing a new one.
