permanently dumping physical memory

Hi All,

I am rebooting my server (rp8420 11.11) but after reboot, the server is always to dumping physical memory and the reboot, and after reboot also dumping physical memory and reboot again, permanently in this Situation.
and I try to boot from tape, to recover old image but Is not booting from it
And also from DVD when I try to install a fresh copy.

How to solve this problem

hi,

immediately log a Hardware case with HP to get the MP logs analysed and to see if there is an hardware isssue there.

in the BCH when you do search what do you see, are not you able to see the tape device or DVD rom?

Please post the O/Ps of the search command or any other screen shots/errror messages that is there trying to boot using the CD/ DVD

The HP-UX kernel seems to be panicing because the root filesystem has detected serious errors and the root filesystem cannot be mounted.

If booting from a DVD causes the system to crash before you can start the OS installation, there is probably something wrong with the system's SCSI controller or internal SCSI cabling/backplane, i.e. it is a hardware issue. It's time to make a support call.

See Figure 1-4 on page 20 and the entire page 27 of the rp8420 User Service Guide:

IPL error: bad IPL checksum

Documented solutions to this problem of a corrupted LIF area : Get a recovery disk and recovery the LIF area, then get to singler user and reset all the boot paths and dump,swap and root area with lvlnboot and setboot.
