port 8054

Hi,

For the zonetransfer between namesurfer and slave DNS port number 8054 is in used. I want to know that port number is it UDP or TCP?

Can someone give me an anwser??

cat /etc/services | grep 8054

How did u find out ? using netstat ? the first field shows whether it is tcp or udp !

Fom iana.org 8054 is in the range for HTTP Alternate - from:

http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers

So if 8054 is being used foe DNS - it's *not* standard

I should have said - it's unassigned, so there's no way to tell you whether it's UDP or TCP *because* it's NOT standard. But IF I had to bet, when it comes to the importance of DNS - I'd say TCP for sure.
