pwgr_stat command shows " unable to communicate with server"

Hi All

I would really appreciate if someone could reply quickly.

I am trying to use NIS as backend for one of my testing ie; I am replacing /etc/nsswitch.conf with /etc/nsswitch.nis .

When I do that and run the pwgr_stat command the it gives me status as unable to communicate with server.

please can somebody explain me why it is happening. I would be really grateful.

Hi Madhur ,

can you try /sbin/init.d/pwgr stop
followed by /sbin/init.d/pwgr start.

Please post your OS version ..please check any log that you might get in /var/yp/ypserv.log during start/stop.

Hi,

First of all, please check if the machine is bound to one of your NIS master/slaves:

# ypwhich

Please post the output.
