rcp: protocol screwup

Hi Folks,

While I try to perform rcp from SUSE Linux to Redhat Enterprise Linux I am experiencing with following error.

rcp: protocol screwup: expected control record
rcp: lost connection

Please suggest!!

Thanks

Re: rcp: protocol screwup

Shalom,

Check /var/log/messages on the Linux machine, and the equivalent on SUSE.

There is probably a problem in xinetd configuration. Perhaps a firewall is interfering.

Re: rcp: protocol screwup

Thanks for response, but I solved the problem.

There was a swap file which was named as .x*t(.s?).swp due to which rcp was not working.

I tried to do scp and it gave error copying above file. I got the file renamed, and rcp started working!!

Thanks again!!
