read-only access to SAM by non-root user.

I have a non-root user who would like to review the extensive kernel configuration help
contained within SAM > Kernel Configuration > Help.

Is there a way to enable read-only access to such SAM content by non-root user?

Re: read-only access to SAM by non-root user.

Further to my request, while I can grant non-root user access to "kernel configuration",
using "sam -r", this gives said user access to modify kernel/reboot machine, which is
not the intent.

I only want the user to be able to browse the hyperlinked file accessed by
SAM > Kernel Configuration > Configurable Parameters > Help.

Alternatively, it would be great if the same information was available in html.

Try sysdef command.
Give to users almost all kernel parameters.
Type full path: /usr/sbin/sysdef.
Or, get by root the info from sam and save the output into a file readable by others.

Hi,

there is a good documentation for kernel parameters at the URL:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/content/KCparams.OverviewAll.html

Hope that helps

I second Andreas. I have foud that site to be quite helpful in the past. It gives clear and concise explanations of most kernel parameters, including default values and how they relate to each other.

Thanks Andreas and Alan.
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/content/KCparams.OverviewAll.html is exactly what I required - appears to be an exact replicate of the SAM > Kernel Configuration > Configurable Parameters > Help series.

I'm curious why these documents don't show up on http://search.hp.com/ when I search for [+kernel +configuration +overview +hpux].
