reboot case HP-UX C-8000 B.11.11
Hello,
This morning I noticed that the HP-UX machine was rebooted during Friday and Saturday twice (var/adm/syslog/syslog.log and OLDsyslog.log).
Examine the other log files exposed the following messages:
/etc/shutdown - Reboot after panic: isr.ior = 0'1034009, 0'9943520
Reboot after panic: Data page fault
/var/adm/rc.log - local host HOST_NAME erez1 is not qualified; fix $j in config file /etc/mail: 7 aliases, longest 0 bytes.
In addition, the reset baton was blink in red.
Finally, after several reboot attempts the system was brought up.
1. What other files should give more info regarding the issue?
2. What steps should I take to overcome the problem?
BR,
Yali

Do you have crash dumps enabled in /var/adm/crash/?

Re: reboot case HP-UX C8000 B.11.11
Hello Dennis,
1. in etc/rc.config.d/crashconf
CRASHCONF_ENABLED=1
CRASHCONF_READ_FSTAB=1
All the rest are set to "0".
I do have several files under /var/adm/crash:
- bounds
- crush.0 (directory):
INDEX
gvid_him_cons
gvid_info
several image files from 2008
image.1.1
image.1.2
image.1.3
...
and the vmunix
2. Its not open to patches.
BR,
Yali

Any one for the latest crash?

Then you have your solution. Management doesn't want you to fix this. Just have it reboot and go on.

Re: reboot case HP-UX C8000 B.11.11
No file from the latest crash has found.
Regarding the patches, you right, the policy is not to update. But it will change soon :)
Since I haven't handle patches updated yet, can you please help me with the issu?
1. Where can I find these patches and the update procedure?
2. Do I need any code/privilege to access it?
3. Should I update the latest patch only (just to remind you, I hold B.11.11 and B.10.20 machines)?

Then it may not be enabled correctly?

You go to the HPSC and you must have a software support contract:
Put the patches in your shopping cart and download them and just follow the instructions for combining them.
Then run swinstall.

Or the last quality pack. And there are no patches for 10.20 anymore.
