recover the server
Hi Admins,
Forgot root password.Since single user mode BOOT_AUTH enabled, the same is asking root password.Please tell me how can i recover the server using bootable DVD in recovery mode.
Server :HPUX 11.31
Superdome S32
Operating OE is BOE March2012

Have you tried booting into LVM maintenance mode(hpux -lm)? I don't recall if that requires a password or not.
If you can come up that way, then just activate VG00, mount your file systems and edit the /tcb/files/auth/r/root file to remove the password so you can reset it.
Remember that the line should wind up looking like this for no password.
:u_pwd=:\

Thanks for the response.But -lm also require root password.
and my server is not trusted.
