redhat 5.4 hba status link down

goodbye all,
i got some issues with the hba :

the STATE on /sys/class/scsi_host/host* of my server is Link Down

how can i Link up my hba ?

Shalom,

If you have physical access:

Look at the HBA and see if the lights are on.

PSP which runs on HP branded servers has utilities that can tell you if the fiber is connected.

You need to confirm the connection before proceeding.

Eyeballs are best for that.

yes is dl580 G i should go in the ilo card to use that utility ?

You can have your HBA in Link Up condition by ensuring a FC Cable is plugged in to the HBA's FC port(s) and the same cable's other end is plugged in to a SAN/FC Switch.

You need not mess with iLo or any hiLO as RHEL 5.4 already has the drivers for every FC HBA conceivable on the planet.

If you have QLogic HBAs - installing SANsurfer will give you additional valuable tools to diagnose your SAN connections.... The same holds true with Emulex FC HBAs - there should also be a suite for Emulex HBAs.... lspci should help you find out what kind HBAs you have.
