Hi there, i was just wondering what does refreshing a volume group mean????

That's a very good question.

I'm not sure what it would mean. I have never been asked to "refresh" a VG.

In what context was this asked?

Hi,

in which context?

It could be:
- standalone context:
# vgchange -a (y|e) vgname
to update the status of some PV if they were unavailable

- cluster context:
# vgexport/vgimport
to update the lvm config of a vg that was modified in another node.

Are you speaking of refreshing from a Business Copy perhaps?

actually it was the application refresh that they were talking about not vg refresh... But hey my question did provoke some thought ;)
