Re: root disk mirroring

Hi Laiju c babu,
Primary/ existing disk ==> /dev/dsk/c2t1d0

new disk to be mirrored ==> /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0

1. # vi /tmp/partitionfile

3
EFI 500MB
HPUX 100%
HPSP 400MB

2. idisk -wf /tmp/partitionfile /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0 [ new disk]

3. pvcreate -fB /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s2

4. insf -e

5. mkboot -e -l /dev/dsk/c2t0d0

6. vgextend /dev/vg00 dev/dsk/c2t0d0s2

7. for i in lvol1 lvol2 lvol3 lvol4 lvol5 lvol6 lvol7 lvol8
do lvextend -m 1 /dev/vg00/$i /dev/dsk/c2t0d0s2
done

8. update lvol boot paths

# lvlnboot -r /dev/vg00/lvol3 /dev/vg00
# lvlnboot -b /dev/vg00/lvol1 /dev/vg00
# lvlnboot -s /dev/vg00/lvol2 /dev/vg00
# lvlnboot -d /dev/vg00/lvol2 /dev/vg00

9. efi_ls -d /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s1

10. edit the AUTO file so we can boot when one disk is missing:

# efi_cp -d /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s1 -u /EFI/HPUX/AUTO /tmp/AUTO

# vi /tmp/AUTO
modify "boot vmunix" to "boot vmunix -lq"

then put back the file on [both EFI partitions] with:

efi_cp -d /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s1 /tmp/AUTO /EFI/HPUX/AUTO --new disk

efi_cp -d /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s1 /tmp/AUTO /EFI/HPUX/AUTO ---source disk

11. set the alternate EFI Bootpath to the mirrored disk

# setboot -a HW-path to the mirrored disk

# setboot â p HW add of mirrord disk[newdisk]
12. Test booting from each drive.
