rp3440 - reconfiguring cpu

On rp3440 in HPUX 11.11 with 4 proc

Someone has deconfigured 2 proc (I don't know how & this guy is no more present). So the server became a 2-proc rp3440.

PROCESSOR INFORMATION

HVERSION SVERSION Processor
Processor Speed Model Model/Op CVERSION State
--------- -------- -------- -------- -------- -------------
0 800 MHz 0x0887 0x0491 3.2 Active
1 800 MHz 0x0887 0x0491 3.2 Idle
2 800 MHz 0x0887 0x0491 0.0 Stopped:Deconfigured
3 800 MHz 0x0887 0x0491 0.0 Stopped:Deconfigured

I'd like to re-configure the 2 missing proc.
- I executed the BCH commands : "cpu 2 ON" and "cpu 3 ON"

PROCESSOR CONFIGURATION INFORMATION

Processor hpa Configuration Status
--------- ------------------ ----------------------------------------
0 0xfffffffffe780000 Configured, not flagged to be deconfigured

1 0xfffffffffe781000 Configured, not flagged to be deconfigured

2 0xfffffffffe798000 Deconfigured, flagged to be reconfigured

3 0xfffffffffe799000 Deconfigured, flagged to be reconfigured

- I rebooted the server and executed the following command : icod_modify -a 2
But it's not working for rp3440...

ERROR: iCOD is not supported on this class of system.

What's the command to re-activate the proc for rp3440 server ???

I tried to find rp3440 upgrade guide but "A7137-96004" document is not available...

# swlist | grep -i icod
B9073BA B.11.11.06.50 HP-UX iCOD (Instant Capacity on Demand)

Re: rp3440 - reconfiguring cpu

Hi Oliver,

I think the processor got deconfigured during some reboot and may not have been done by your previous colleague intentionally. This may happen probably because of local hotspots, radiation and so on. You can check when your CPUs got deconfigured from MP>SL logs. They are not even classified as critical but as warning as sometimes manual intervention can cause it. Post the SL logs corresponding to 'CPU Deconfigured' message.

I also faced similar issue, but fortunately, after reboot, Processors got reconfigured. Having already rebooted, I suggest you to check if all 4 processors are configured now.

Re: rp3440 - reconfiguring cpu

hi

u can use

#icod_stat
or
#icapstatus

to see the details.

also use in conjunctin with that
#top
#print_manifest
#ioscan -fnCprocessor

to see details of the currebt processors in the system.

Re: rp3440 - reconfiguring cpu

hi

yes 2 CPUs from ur sytem have failed and got deactivated and that is what ur Sl and old MP logs suggest.

also that the system does not have ICOD / ICAP Softwares enabled on the system.

U shud go ahead and log ahW case with HP.
