rp8420 11.31 Panic Data page fault

Hi all:

System reboots after panic with data page faults. It's been happening frequently.

18:22 Fri Jun 20 2010. Reboot after panic: Data page fault
06:00 Wed Jun 22 2010. Reboot after panic: Fault when executing in kernel mode
19:25 Sat Jul 02 2010. Reboot after panic: Data page fault
19:24 Wed Jul 05 2010. Reboot after panic: Data page fault

Trap information
================

Type 15: Data TLB Miss Fault/Data Page Fault

Interruption Instruction Register:
IIR = 0x52b60040

Interruption Space and Offset Registers:
ISR.IOR = 0x0.0x20

Interruption Instruction Address Queue:
PCSQ.PCOQ = 0x0.0x1c1c7c = tcp_wput+0x129c

Interrupt Instruction at tcp_wput+0x129c:
ldd 0x20(r21),r22

Note: The trapping address is in kernel space at a low offset
This is probably a null pointer de-reference

Thanks much for all/any help.

Hi Zvi,

crashinfo is a HP confidential tool which can only be used on HP support request.

This is typically the type of question you should ask to hp support, or if it is guess work, update your patch level it will fix your problem.

Shalom,

You may get useful information by performing crash dump analysis. Usually to get meaningful results you need to submit results to HP.

Here is how.

What is not clear to me is what mode this system is running in. npar, npar/hpvm or npar/vpar

Shalom S.E.P.

It is a 1 x NPAR config. No VPARs.

Thanks

Re: rp8420 11.31 Panic Data page fault

to summarize,
Dump analysis is not a guess work.
So the alternatives are:
- you install all uptodate patches and pray
- you call hp support for a dump analysis
