saconfig configuration question

Good Day All,

I've configured logical drive 0 with a total of seven 300GB drives using saconfig and RAID5, but for some reason, when I look at this drive using #/usr/sbin/saconfig /dev/ciss21 it shows its size as only 204796 MB whereas I'm thinking it should be almost 2TB. Is there a step I'm missing?

Re: saconfig configuration question

What does diskinfo show on that same disk? If it shows the correct size, then it might be an overflow on displaying the disk size number. Otherwise there are deeper issues with the controller. Maybe a firmware upgrade is needed.

Re: saconfig configuration question

Can you post the output to the 'saconfig /dev/ciss21' command?

Re: saconfig configuration question

2TB may be the limit of your controller. What type is it?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: saconfig configuration question

It's a SmartArray 6402 PCI-X controller.

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/arraycontrollers/smartarray6402/description.html#compare

Maximum Logical Volume Size 2 TB

Create several drives and configure a VG on them.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: saconfig configuration question

Thanks Torsten, but the issue is that I'm only seeing 209GB on the logical drive rather than the almost 2TB I expect to see. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my original question.
