samba problem
i have installed samba Version 3.0.28
i shared one directory to windows xp client
mapped this shared directory in a network drive in the client side
session getting Disconnected frequently, and it recover once you navigate through the network drive.
this causes client's application to stop working.
i want to keep the network drive accessible even if there is no activities done to this network drive
please help

it used to happen randomly. maybe after 1 hour, maybe after 8 hours.

when the client shuts down the network adapter to save power.
You can use Device Manager to change the power management settings for a network adapter. To disable this setting in Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click the adapter, click Properties, click the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.

as this client can connect to Windows NFS share without any disconnection.

What's the network infrastructure between the client and the server ? I'll take a guess that there's something (firewall or router) that's disconnecting idle TCP sessions.
