Re: sar -d is looping on Tru64 V5.1B cluster system with large external disk array.

sar -d is looping on Tru64 V5.1B cluster system with large external disk array.

I am using sar -d to get disk activities on Tru64 V5.1B cluster system. This system has 44 LUN's. sar -d is always looping. sar -d processes are trying to start over and over again. If "ps -ef", could see a lot of sar -d processes running?

Is it known issue for Tru64? Does anybody have same problem? Any workaround/suggestion? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Have you tried using 'collect'?.

Thanks BL. I did use collect before. But collect had other issue, so we changed to use "sar". All other options works fine, except for -d :(. Is it known issue?

From what I enquired, this is not a known issue. So, you may have to raise a case with HP support to get it resolved.

Do you have the latest ESVF kit installed. There seem to be a fix for a similar case in the latest kit.

Or,

Is your device name greater than 32 char??

Device name is less than 32 chars. Is there any known issue if device name longer than 32 chars?

sar -d does not support more than 32 chars for device name.
