What window manager and terminal emulator are you using?

Note: cut & paste will probably only work on text.

Re: screen shot on HP-UX console

I always use mobaxterm on windows to access xWindows on HP-UX - so you can use the windows screen capture tools to make a screenshot.

Hope this helps!

Re: screen shot on HP-UX console

Well, there are several questions:

It sounds like you are using Xwindows.

Is the display connected directly to the server or is your screen actually a PC running an Xwindow emulator?

For direct connect (or a workstation), the only (completely archaic) tool is xpr. If you read the (1988) man page, you'll realize that screen tools to copy the image are primitive and the output file is virtually incompatible with any PC or web interface. If you are trying to copy non-Xwindows images such as bootup on a workstation, onlly a camera is going to capture the image.

If your display is actually on a PC running an Xwindow emulator, use standard PC tools to capture the screen. I assume that you need to capture colors and shapes and graphics images. You can then paste the captured screens into a Word document.

If you are only using Xwindows to show simple text, you might want to consider tools like PuTTY on a PC.

Re: screen shot on HP-UX console

Hi,

on HP-UX 10.20 there was a software screencapture.
I copied it to 11.11 and it worked like a charm.

Re: screen shot on HP-UX console

Thank you for your advice,

I used only HP-UX's console directly, and  know how to use reflextion X, but its license was expired.

I'll try xpr, and if it will become fail, I use X emulator.

Re: screen shot on HP-UX console

if you can able to use a desktop virtual box software, you can use windows print screen OR snipping tool under Accessories for Win7.

But of course the easier way to get screen shot to use a compact camera like a screen scanner ;)
