I am trying to add a network attached printer via the lpadmin instead of the hppi interface as we have thousands of printers.
when I perform lpdamin -p"printername" -m"model" -v/dev/null
the print does not end up at the printer, but whilst creating via hppi, all prints end up being printed.
Has anyone managed to add a network printer via a scriptb

Solution
Sure. Here's the script I use (attached). Obviously there's quite a bit of stuff in their that is peculiar to our installation but the key is the /opt/hpnpl/bin/removequeue and addqueue command section.
Good luck,
Pete

Re: scripting the creation of HP-UX network printers
Use the addprinter command. It is part of hppi and is the lpadmin equivalent for network printers. Check the man page for the usage options.
