secondary swap

I am aware that it is better to have secondary swap configured on a separate disk from primary swap lvol2

But we have just one local disk...

RAM 128GB

pri swap 64GB

It is a 11.31 hpux vmhost with active vm guests in it.

Need to have 128GB of swap to have consistency with other vmhosts in the environment.

can i use the same VG00 disk to create a secondary swap?

Is it too disatrous?

for example:

/dev/vg00/lvol2 - primary swap

/dev/vg00/lv-swap2 - secondary swap?

thank you

Re: secondary swap

Yes, you can do that and it will likely be fine.

If you start using swap to any significant extent then your performance is going to be so poor that the location of your swap areas will not make significant difference.

Paraphrasing a friend --- worrying about swap layout is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
