sendmail domains

We want to receive mail at a dummy domain name on a Linux system with a different domain name. i.e. oak.abc.co.nz has sendmail configured and running ok. But we want it to accept mail addressed to user@pine.abc.co.nz, and direct this to the same user@oak.abc.co.nz.
Currently we recive the msg in maillog 'reject=551 we do not relay'.

Any ideas?

thanks, Greg.

Re: sendmail domains

You probably want to add pine.abc.co.nz to your sendmail.cw file.

This tells sendmail that your server is also known by this name.

Re: sendmail domains

Greg,

I use the /etc/mail/relay file for allowing 'other' machines and/or domains to use my Sendmail.

The entries include the following:

hostname.domain.com RELAY

Eric Allman also put together a useful page regarding relaying. You can find it at:

http://www.sendmail.org/tips/relaying.html

Virtual Hosting:

http://www.sendmail.org/virtual-hosting.html

and the FAQ is also available at

http://www.sendmail.org/faq/

I am sure that there is Plenty of info here for you. Btw, you don't have to work with the Configuration Macros if you dont want to, that's just another method for accomplishing the same effect.

Have a Great Day!

Thanks, guys. For the moment we're fudging at the firewall, but I'll look closer at your suggestions when time allows.

If you look at this post again :

Anti-Spam rules can also cause your error. Make sure that you also allow this domain to relay through the anti spam section of sendmail 8.9 and higher
