server responding slow

Hi
Techies,

I am facing server slowness issue with HP-UX B.11.11. server. The it takes time to execute a single command too. i checked glance, average, swap, shared memory, file system utilization. but everything seems to be fine. only the uptime is more. can some one advise me if i can do anything else.

Re: server responding slow

hi,
can you post the output of a few of those ?

# uptime
# swapinfo -tam

also check your syslog for useful info.

cheers

Re: server responding slow

uptime is not an issue :). You check, what is dragging your system. Have you noticed any unusual activity in glance, top, swap etc ?

Re: server responding slow

Hi,

What is the dbc_max_pct value at system's Kernel?

Rgds.

Is there any possibility that something is doing a large amount of sequential IO (read or write) to a filesystem in vg00?

This can often make a system look slow... (and you shouldn't do it!)

Re: server responding slow

uptime is, however, a command which executes fast and returns load averages, aka useful info ;-)

Re: server responding slow

Dear have you checked for back ground processes?
