showing the Owner as User ID and not the username

Hi All,

i have a server with HPUX 11iv3. when i need to know who the owner of any file, he show me the user ID of the owner and not the name of this owner. For example, if the owner of the file X is user oracle, when do the ll X, he show me the owner as 109, this is the user ID of the user name oracle. Any suggestion for correction please.

Awaiting,

Re: showing the Owner as User ID and not the username

Hi:

Verify that your '/etc/passwd' file is *read*able by everyone (and only writable and owned by root) -> -rw-r--r--

Regards!
