hi all,

how to configure snmpv3 on hp-ux 11.11 & hp-ux 11.31. I want to enable snmp and must use a authentication to connect.

I do not believe that the snmp agents on hpux provide v3.. to confirm I would have to go do some reading..

snmpv2 provides private community string capability but I believe the drawback was that snmp sent the community string in clear text vs snmpv3 which encrypts.

guess it really depends on what you are looking for.

Many thanks for your respons.
snmp use for connection between server and cacti software. User and password needed for this connection, based on audit requirement.

how to configure snmp to support it?

You should check if your application supports WBEM as a new standard instead of snmp.
