split mirror LSM for system backup

hello
i have a alpha serveur with tru64 V5.1, ADVFS and a système mirror with LSM.
I must apply a patch kit and i want to have a quick recovery process with a split mirror with a sub mirror for the update and a sub mirror for a bootable alternate disk.
what do you think about this ? anybody have an experiment return ?thank

Do you just want to do this for the volumes you mentioned (the system disk)? If so, it may be easier to use cloned AdvFS file sets (clonefset).

Or even just a regular vdump hoping that the open files will be okay. This is often good enough if you don't have active databases.

If you want to do this with LSM and split mirrors, take a look at the LSM fast plex re-attach option in the latest versions of V5.1B. You can split of plexes and turn them into volumes in earlier versions, but the fast plex reattach makes it easier and faster.

I would recommend you to take vdump in single user mode. Recovering a broken lsm mirror sometimes creates issues if you are not comfortable with lsm please dont do this.
