# /usr/sbin/swlist -l depot @ SWDepot
# Initializing...
ERROR: Could not contact host "SWDepot". Make sure the hostname is
correct and an absolute pathname is specified (beginning with

# swcopy -i -s swdepot.atl.hp.com
[rx260-13]/
# swcopy -i -s ultra.fc.hp.com:/depots/AR0604_B.5.4.50_WEB_ic4_noprods
[rx260-13]/
# /usr/sbin/swdepot
sh: /usr/sbin/swdepot: not found.

Re: swcopy and swinstall

> swinstall

You are missing the selection on the command line. That's why the UI is invoked. The command is:

swinstall -s SWDepot:depot/misc/igniteux.depot \*

The \* tells swinstall to select all the contents of the depot. There is no default so the UI is started when you don't provide a selection.

> swlist

"swlist -l depot" shows the depots that are registered on your local machine. "swlist -l depot @ SWDepot" lists the depots at the computer named: SWDepot Apparently you do not have a server named SWDepot.

> swcopy

You use swcopy (typically) to create a depot with multiple products, or to convert a tape image to a depot. The arguments are typically -s @ /var/tmp/depotname

There is no swdepot command.

Re: swcopy and swinstall

hi,

# swinstall -s SWDepot:depot/misc/igniteux.depot \*

what do you get if you add a / after the colon: for the full path?

# swinstall -s SWDepot:/depot/misc/igniteux.depot \*

but do you have server with a hostname SWDepot? as that is the server you are trying to install from

could you ping SWDepot? what are you using for hostname resolution? DNS... /etc/hosts...?

# /usr/sbin/swlist -l depot @ SWDepot

will list any depots on the system SWDepot(hostname) that are registered.

is the depot on the remote server SWDepot registered?

Andy

Re: swcopy and swinstall

Bill,
Could you check the host entry & filesystem free space in the server, looks like some problem with hotname resoultion or filesystem free space,

- Check /etc/hosts on both server.
- Also check /tmp /var /usr /opt filesystems are not full and got sufficiant spce.

# bdf | grep vg00

Check the free space on the mentioned filesystems.

Cheers,
Raj.

Re: swcopy and swinstall

Bill,

The troubleshooting steps would be:
-------------------------------
# nslookup your-ip-address
# nslookup your-hostname

Check the following files;

/etc/nsswitch.conf
/etc/hosts
/etc/resolv.conf #(dns)
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf

Restart the swagent daemon.

# /sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
# /sbin/init.d/swagentd start
------------------------------------

Re: swcopy and swinstall

Raj,

Thanks for that... Nowe get something different after selecting the s/w on the target

Before proceeding, you must specify a target path. Please specify a
target path in the Software Selection Window by using the change target action in the Action menu.

Re: swcopy and swinstall

somehow it is waiting on something...

swinstall -s 16.234.24.75:/depot/misc/igniteux/11 \*

could you give me the command to copy depot from 16.234.24.75 to my server

Re: swcopy and swinstall

# swcopy -s ultra.fc.hp.com:/depots/AR0604_B.5.4.50_WEB_ic4_noprods \* @ /depot_location_on_this_server

However if the swinstall do not work , this is also not expected to work, however you can try,

- Also check that all network services are started fine on this server.
- Also Since when this network depot is not working.

How big is the depot (AR0604_B.5.4.50_WEB_ic4_noprods) on the other server:? If it is not big you can simply ftp or scp it.

Raj.

Re: swcopy and swinstall

>swcopy -s swdepot.atl.hp.com

I would suggest since you are within HP, you ask internally. Drop Bob or me a message.

>/usr/sbin/swlist -l depot @ SWDepot

I would suggest you not fall into the SD trap of having N different ways of doing things. Use -s (source) to be consistent:
swlist -l depot -s SWDepot

I've had no problems with that in the past.
