But in my production HP-UX, if I did the same, the MQSERIES analysis came back and told me that I need additional disk space on root directory "/". Some how the swinstall does not know the target directories which are /opt/mqm and /var/mqm. I think my DEV and PROD servers have descrepancy in regards to this. Is there a pre-defined setting somewhere I can verify? Please help. Thanks.

Solution"swinstall" will analysis the space requirement in required directories automatically. If you want to see where the files whill be installed,
# swlist -l file -s

Re: swinstall to install IBM MQSERIES maintenance patch
To see all the pathnames, just use tar as in:
tar tvf /var/tmp/mqpatch.depot

Re: swinstall to install IBM MQSERIES maintenance patch
I don't know what you mean. Do you mean how to overwrite the old version with the new version? If so, this is automatic in the patch. You don't have to do anything.
