Re: swinstall

Here's some old doc that's worked for me on HP-UX 11.x. You will also want to kill your swinstall process first.

To resolve SWINSTALL PROBLEMS, do the following steps.

1. Stop Measureware
a) /opt/perf/bin/mwa stop

2. Verify that nslookup can resolve the system's hostname and ip address.
a) nslookup "system's hostname"
b) nslookup "system's ip address"

3. cd to /var/adm/sw
a) If at 11.x, verify that the â .codewordsâ file exist.
1). In the /var/adm/sw directory, issue the "ll -a | more" command. If the ".codewords" file is
not listed, create it with the touch command: "touch .codewords".

4. cd to /var/adm/sw/products directory
a) remove the swlock file: "rm swlock"

5. cd /; kill and restart the swagentd daemon with the command: "/usr/sbin/swagentd -r"

6. Restart the swinstall process. It should succeed now.

7. After the software is installed, restart Measureware with the command "/opt/perf/bin/mwa start".

Re: swinstall

Shalom,

You can of course break it.

From a user session you could so su - root

No, that would require authentication.

If you have password free ssh, that might let you in.

If you can get root access you can kill the swinstall process and run /sbin/init.d/swagentd -r

If not your only viable alternative is the power switch.
