swlist hangs

I have just installed HPUX 11.23 on a N-Class PA-RISC server, I am running a swlist command however it seems to hang.

Has any of you good fellows seen this problem ?

Re: swlist hangs

Hi,

Have you tried with options like swlist -l product, swlist -l bundle, swlist -l fileset ?

Is this directory /var/adm/sw/product exist?

Is this file INDEX exist under the above dir?
Best wishes,

Ganesh.

Re: swlist hangs

Try stopping and restarting swagentd:

/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop
/sbin/init.d/swagentd start

Re: swlist hangs

This server is not connected to the network yet, will this impact the swlist command, if my server is in the /etc/hosts file

Re: swlist hangs

Yes, this will affect that, since swlist will try to resolve the hostnane to IP address

You could do the following
127.0.0.1 loopback

Do a swlist and try
"Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak."

Re: swlist hangs

Replace with hostname of the server.
"Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak."

Re: swlist hangs

Afte changing /etc/hosts you could restart the swagentd daemon

# swagentd -r

and then try swlist
"Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak."

Re: swlist hangs

Hi,

if file /etc/resolv.conf exists, check in /etc/nsswitch.conf that you have "file" before "dns" for hosts resolution.
If nsswitch.conf doesn't exists, you have to create one (see /etc/nsswitch.* for example).

Regards.
