swpackage error with "file -t"

To whom it may concern.

I was building package with *.psf file, but I encounter issue:

The command I use is:
/usr/local/bin/sudo /usr/sbin/swpackage -v -s ./fresco.psf -d /lhome/eric/fresco/2009-07-12/hp/1131/debug/depot/fresco/debug \
-x write_remote_files=true \
-x compress_files=true \
-x reinstall_files=true \
-x create_target_acls=false

And the error I see is:
ERROR: Cannot access the source file
"/etc/fsc/type/static/fsconfigdump": No such file or directory
(2)

I later checked the fresco.psf, it seems this issue comes out when checking this line:
file -t s /etc/fsc/type/static/fsconfigdump /usr/lib/fresco/diag.d/fsconfigdump

I did some trials, it seems that if I remove or rename file "/usr/lib/fresco/diag.d/fsconfigdump", there will not be ERROR for fsconfigdump (of course ERROR will goes to other file beginning with "file -t").

I am not quite familiar with *.psf file, can you please help me with this? Based on our previous experience, it should not matters if the symlink file exist or not. I am now using a new HP-UX machine, and meet this issue without know why. Is there any workaround for this?

Thanks very much!

Re: swpackage error with "file -t"

I had no problems on 11.23 with your "file -t s" entry. Neither existed.

I then pointed to an existing destination (second file) and still had no problems.

I am using HP 11.11 PA-risc (9000/800), is it possible you try with that?

Still no problems. But all I have is your one file entry.

Re: swpackage error with "file -t"

Thanks, here is the software list I have on my HP 11.11, I am not sure whether I need to update any patch to fix that issue. That issue occurs when swpackage command is doing syntax checking for psf file. So I guess I may need to update the patch Bundle which contains "swpackage" command, do you have that or any advices?

Re: swpackage error with "file -t"

The issue is like this, in *.psf file, suppose we have a line like
file -t s fileA fileB

if fileB exists (regardless whether it is a symbolic file or in correct grammer), then when running swpackage, it will report fileA can not be accessed. If we remove fileB, or rename it to something else, there will be no such an issue.

Does it ever occur in HP system bug list? Is there any way (Patch update, specific configuration) to get it fixed?

Thanks!

The recommended SD patch is PHCO_35587 and the latest is PHCO_38226. You may have one of them in "BUNDLE B.2009.06.02 Patch Bundle".

Re: swpackage error with "file -t"

Thanks, well, I think you are right, I replace the /usr/sbin/swpackage with one I get from another HP-UX, and it get fixed. I will close this Thread now, Thanks very much for your help!

You need to be careful here. The SD programs are all hardlinks to the same file. You should install a patch so you have consistent SD installation.
