syslog huge and this error

I have a hpux box 11.11. It is an NPAR on a 9000/800/rp7420

woke up today to literally thousands of these messages in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log and really need some help. I don't even know where to start:

Well you can see which kernel function this is coming from by executing:

echo '0x949548/a' | adb /stand/vmunix /dev/kmem

That might give some clues... do you have any 3rd party kernel components installed?

Re: syslog huge and this error

I did some searching on the forum and came up with a scsi prob because of the long uptime. Over 400 days. So I am trying a reboot.

fyi here is the kmem ouput:
root> echo '0x949548/a' | adb /stand/vmunix /dev/kmem
mpt_os_callback:
mpt_os_callback: mpt_os_callback:

Not very helpful either.

Re: syslog huge and this error

Tells us enough... I'm guessing this box has been up for a good long time (over 400 days?) - this was a minor bug in the mpt U320 SCSI driver that threw this harmless message into syslog - you can sort it by installing the latest version of the driver:

Re: syslog huge and this error

Reboot corrected the initial problem and will apply the patch.
