system kernel parameters best practise (tune)

Hello.

actually i am trying to reach the best performance in my linux box environment.
redhat 5 is the OS and it is booting from SAN eva8000.
anybody have a best practise tested List that i can use.
this linux is running oracle so DBA will modify his parameters. but i want to modify mine.

See this link for Oracle 10G recommended kernel settings for RHEL4 (should work for RHEL5 as well):

I never see best practise to tune linux but there is a lot of good doc about tuning linux even in ibm redbooks, look for example
