system recovery options on Itanium servers

Hi,

Our systems will be using Itanium processor based HP Integrity servers - rx2620 and rx7620 for test and production environment respectively.

I believe "make_tape_recovery" is not possible on Integrity servers based on Itanium processors.

We do not have provision for Ignite-UX servers as well.

Can someone please suggest me what system recovery options are available for my platform and how it can be implemented.

Many Thanks,
Rajesh

Re: system recovery options on Itanium servers

Shalom Rajesh,

It is possible to do make_tape_recovery on Itanium systems. The recovery process is just a little(lot)different.

Two step media recovery procedure:
http://docs.hp.com/en/IUX/2stepmedia.html

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90970/ch09s05.html

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90970/index.html

So you are kind of wrong about your assumption.

You can also do make_net_recovery and have your Ignite "server" store the images on any NFS mount point, even an EMC or something like that.

Re: system recovery options on Itanium servers

Canb do "make_tape_recovery" and "make_net_recovery" for the ia64 systems.

Make the TST server an Ignite server so you can get the PRD protected.

There are some gotchas to be aware of when doing the ia64 servers. But they work and they work well.

If space is a constraint, can have the images moved elsewhere where the Ignite is complete (be sure to put it back if you want to restore from it) of do an NFS mount to somewhere else.
