You need to specify what needs fixing:
hardware tests?
software startup?
The setboot command has been enhanced (depends on your hardware and HP-UX version and patches) to bypass things like extended memory tests. Actually, I recommend doing this for really big systems (20 GB and larger). If the PDC tests encounter an error, all setboot shortcuts are automatically disabled and all selftests will be run.
Now you mentioned hardware tests and lvm in the same sentence. These are very, very different steps. You shorten the hardware steps, and as I mentioned before, once you know what feature you do not want enabled, you can turn them off in /etc/rc.config.d. But features like LVM (and swap and networking) are not tests, they are services. Bypass these startup steps and now your system is crippled.
