Re: system went down
if system went up, then check the crash file has created or not
/var/adm/crash/crash.0

Re: system went down
/etc/shutdownlog
If shutdownlog shows a crash, then check for a crash dump in /var/adm/crash.
/var/tombstones/ts99 can be useful for hardware issues.

Re: system went down
1. Check /etc/shutdown
>> Do you see any entries for the date
If yes, then what is the entry
MCA, HPMC -- H/W panics
Data page fault, Reboot after panic -- S/W or sometimes H/W panics
Shutdown -- someone has shutdown the server
Reboot -- Someone has rebooted the server
No entry -- Abrupt shutdown. Someone might have pressed the power button or H/W issue

Re: system went down
Check the last event which were there
Also compare the timing with /etc/rc.log when the system came up
3. Check if any crash file is generated
> This is necessary in case of panics
# ls -l /var/adm/crash
4. Check for /var/tombstones/ts99 files for any recent valid timestamp for any H/W issue

Re: system went down
In case if you could not see any entry on shutdown logs, and no issues found from the ts99 logs, check from MP logs why the system went down
actually the mp logs will tell if it was a OS crash ..
All the best !!
