Re: tar restoration error

hi

you can see that there is a tape read error.
anyway can u please tell what the coammnd to created the archive and what is the command that is being used for restoration?

try reloading the media after cleaning the Tape Drive? Is there a cleaning indication on the tape?

Re: tar restoration error

>>Tar: blocksize = 0; broken pipe?
Tar: tape read error<<

option (A)

# mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn rewind
# tar tvf /dev/rmt/0mn
(if still broken pipe error)

option (B)
Try cleaning the "tape drive with Cleaning tape"

Good Luck!!

Tks,
Johnson

This just said it tried to read and the blocksize was 0. This could also happen with a broken pipe.

Re: tar restoration error

hi

what was the command that was used to take the backup?

it can also be the case with a backup that was not taken using tar like was taken using vdump, fbackup etc and yiu might be trying to read that using the tar.

so please check in exactly what was the command that was used to create the backup on the media.

or can also be that you have advanced fsf using mt and tar is not able to read that FSF mark or no data in the FSF mark
