when the password field is blank as below:
:u_pwd=:\
under /tcb/files/auth/r/root
will to login as root not require a password?

However, having a blank password is a big security violation.

Shalom,

Yes John, if you blank out root no password will be required.

This is typically done when the root user is locked and nobody knows the password.

It should be followed immediately by a proper root password reset.

yes we can login w/o paswd and its done when u loose/forget ur root passwd.

mostly we have to login to single user mode to blank out the password field.
