Re: upgrade h/w
Assuming it is a supported processor upgrade no OS re-install is needed. There may be some work on the system board NVRAM needed to support the upgrade and keep the box licensed properly licensed.

SolutionAdditional CPU?
Different CPU type?
Convert from RISC to Itanium (e.g. rp4440 to rx4640)?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: upgrade h/w
As always depend whta you are trying to figured out.
If you need to swap CPUS's then you need a downtime.
Check if hardware is compatible.
Then do the switch.
Regards.

Re: upgrade h/w
From N4000 to rp7400?
This *may* include a system board swap, maybe not - it depends on what you really have.
Make a backup for safety. Hope you won't need it.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: upgrade h/w
I see on another HP site that 11.23 supports Itanium, but will I need to reinstall the OS after replacing the cpu's? This is a production server and I want to minimize risk, but also want to avoid buying a new server if possible, and risk is minimal.
Anything else I need to be aware of? I would have an experienced HP support person doing this upgrade but wanted to seek feedback from this forum as well.
Thanks,
Clay
