Does anyone know what causes the "-t" entry? And is it safe to delete this extraneaous entry?
It happend to us before on the root account and to be safe, we had to reboot the OS, in maint mode and removed the root-t entry. but this is just a plain user. Can we just delete the user-t entry? There are logins to the user account and processes running on that account.
TIA!

Re: user and user-t entries in /tcb/files/auth/u causes Login Issues!
The link that does not work is for an old discussion group that was turned off several years ago and merged into the current system. Many of the old itrc.hp.com references were moved and redocumented, but many were not.
Files such as root-t or username-t are lock files, created by passwd and account maintenance programs. They only exist until the maintenance is finished (a fraction of a second), but if something gets hung up and password tools are killed, the files will stay until removed. They can be removed if they are several days old or you know that no maintenance is being done.

Actually it has nothing to do with the old ITRC forum but ITRC support docs. They shared the same servers.
This document was moved to the new HPSC. Its name is: Troubleshooting tips for trusted system
The link seems to work for me. It gives a search that finds this topic and another in the the EBC forum and
then the protected doc in the HPSC.
