Hi,

Running Tru64 Unix 5.1 with Patch Kit 6.

I receive the following messages

Nov 20 16:14:16 Nodename vmunix: device_translate: device cannot be translated 'SCSI3 1 5 0 0 0 0 0 PN: WWID:01000010:6000-1fe1-0008-a0b0-0009-0210-3294-0038'

I have all the disks in SAN connected through HSG80 controller and the error message looks like some kind of intermittent issue with one of the SCSI HDDs.

Can anyone explain more please

Is the device reported in the "hwmgr sho scsi -full" output ?

What is the result of "hwmgr get attrib -id xyz" ?

Any entries in binary.errlog about this device ?

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response.

The device in question is dsk8 ( which is one of the LSM boot disk submirror - dsk4 and dsk8 plexed and mirrrored to form the root, usr var and swap volumes ).

The output of the various commands are attached.

Please let me know what all to look for and how to rectify this condition

I have installed DECevent 3.4 and the output of dia is attached.

Could be a problem with LUN 0, try to use another LUN for this disk (by not using D0 in HSG config). LUN 0 has a special meaning (command console interface) depending on the HSG controller settings and this could interfere with storage works agents accessing the HSG controller.
