/var/adm/wtmp is growing fast
Hello,
On HP-UX B.11.11 I noticed that the file wtmp is growing too fast (comparing to similar HP-UX machines I hold).
There are some users that log in and out of the system during the day but the growing rate seems to be too fast.
Right after I decrease the size by >/var/adm/wtmp it start growing.
Is there any way to control it?
BR,
Yali

Re: /var/adm/wtmp is growing fast
Use the "last" command to find out who or what is generating an excessive number of logins.
Remember that FTP logins will be written to /var/adm/wtmp too: if someone has configured an automatic FTP file transfer system to poll your server with a very small polling interval (or no interval at all, so it will login again immediately after logging out), your wtmp file will grow very fast indeed.

Right. Also, you could have a bunch of remsh or rcp commands.
