vgcfgrestore - on a cloned server

If I restore an OS image from ignite to a different server (Disaster Recovery). Could I then use vgcfgrestore to restore the VG/LV definitions to other disks. So I dont have to rebuild all the file systems.

Thanks.

You might just have to try it to find out...

I ended up writing some vg / lv recovery scripts for my HPUX DR ( at the time it ended up to be more reliable, at least for me. )

even with vgfgrestore you will still have to step through the list of lvols and newfs them...

Re: vgcfgrestore - on a cloned server

your question is confusing me

what does mean Ignite restore by you?
vgcfgrestore is just to build vg/lv configuration on disk from /etc/lvmconf/VGxx.conf file in case your VGs corrospondance disks fails or rebuilt.

whereas IGNITE backup is complete restore your vg00 i.e. your OS on the disk.

so you just clarify us what do you want actually?
