vgscan

Hi Folks,

Is necessory to run vgscan before I execute vgimport.

we are doing san migration , new device will be allocated to server from new san box.
I have taken the vgexport out put for existing vg's,
do i need to run the vgscan befor I run vgimport.

Hi Mohan

You can scan the primary/all controller device paths for all the physical volumes on the system, but do not update the /etc/lvmtab file

if you migrate your san box with no change than u need not to run vgscan.

after that, if you add new LUN than you need only ioscan and insf command to install your hardware.

no need to run vgscan

Not required, but maybe helpful if you run the command in preview mode (-p).

vgscan -v -p

This will only show information and does not change anything.
